When your thoughts sound like your voice — but they came from hell.

You’ve probably said it without thinking: “I’m always the one who ruins things.” “I’m too intense.” “This is just who I am.” But what if I told you — that isn’t really you?
Yes, demons are busy renewing your mind daily. How? With subtle scripting you never question. The devil’s not trying to possess you. He just wants to program you. He whispers something small — and if he can get you to repeat it? He’s got you. Or rather… he’s got your mouth. You’ll do the damage yourself. Many of you don’t remember Howdy Doody — a puppet made famous by his handler, Buffalo Bob Smith. That’s a shame, because the enemy uses a tactic I call spiritual ventriloquism. You just open your mouth… and his words come flying out.
It’s not always traumatic. It might sound like a casual comment at a party: “I always mess this up.” A self-deprecating joke. A nervous apology before you speak. But that phrase? It’s not random. It’s rehearsed. Reinforced. Repeated, because it’s based on a little tiny kernel of truth.
The enemy doesn’t shout. He studies. He waits for a moment of pain — and then offers a label to explain it. You grab it. Repeat it. Defend it. And now it lives in you, moving like it belongs. But just because something feels like “you” doesn’t mean it is you.
I once coached a woman who worked in corporate HR. Sharp. Articulate. The kind of woman other women went to for advice. But every time she spoke in meetings, she’d shrink her ideas with disclaimers: “This might be totally off…” “Maybe I’m overreacting, but…” “Feel free to ignore this…” She wasn’t shy. She was sharp. Strategic. Seasoned. So I asked her, “Why do you always pre-apologize for your voice?” She laughed nervously and said, “Oh, it’s just habit.
Corporate culture.” But I pressed. “No, it’s deeper. Who made you feel like you had to earn the right to speak?” That’s when the smile cracked. Yes, years later, she wasn’t just managing team dynamics — she was managing a whispering demon from her past.
And she needed deliverance from the disguise they gave her. A costume called “humility.” A script called “professionalism.” But what it really was? Spiritual self-silencing. Ventriloquism with a corporate badge. Through several inner healing sessions, her heart softened, her mind shifted, and her speech began to change.
Together, we defused the wounded memory and rewired the way she thought.
The devil doesn’t care if your voice is smart or spiritual. He just wants it scripted. He knows if he can lace a lie in your language, you’ll defend it as “just how I talk.” But God never asked you to manage your tone to avoid rejection. He gave you a mouth — not a muzzle.
Right now, ask: “Holy Spirit — did You say this about me?” It’s almost an idiotic question.
All God’s promises, all God’s words are yes! He said be strong and of good courage — He didn’t say you’re a coward and a weakling. We have been given divine declarations and promises that exceed our limited ability to even understand.
The devil’s minions love to make an end run around the obvious and get you convinced that that self-description is accurate. And if it’s accurate, no one should challenge it — least of all, you.
Three-fourths of the battle here, folks, is recognizing the source of what’s coming out of your mouth! You’re not a puppet. Recognize that neither you nor God wrote that script — so stop playing the part.
What name have you been answering to…that God never gave you?
The devil just needs your voice. Don’t give him the mic. If you agree, comment below: “I’m done being a puppet.”
